Russian, Born 1951. Alexander Antanenka was an artist born on February 16, 1951, in the city of Brest in the Soviet Union. Antanenka was inclined towards arts from a young age and started pencil drawing when he was just 5. The artist went on to attend art school (grade school) situated in Brest and decided to pursue painting as a profession. He attended the Art Academy in Leningrad, in Saint Peterburg in Russia, and graduated in 1978 as a class topper. The artist enjoyed a humble living in Minsk with his wife and daughter and worked as a professional painter. However, after the Chernobyl blasts, Antanenka settled in Magadan city in Siberia and started a new life. Siberia was a place preferred by many exiled artists and poets from the Soviet government.
In Magadan, his work started depicting his emotions like sadness and fury.
