Swiss, 1901-1966. Alberto Giacometti hailed from a family of artists, his father Giovanni was a painter and brother Diego, a sculptor. Alberto worked in drawing, painting, and most notably sculpture. Typically regarded as a Surrealist artist, Giacometti was heavily influenced by existentialism which led to a series of sculptures depicting elongated and almost deflated shapes and figures such as his Walking Man series of sculpture.
