Sterling Shines Alongside Classic + Contemporary Design in Rago's October Remix Auctions

Lambertville, NJRago’s Remix Auction returns on October 18-19 with two sessions hosted over two days. The sale commences on Friday, October 18 with Remix: American, English + Continental Silver, which presents nearly 200 lots of silver including a large and impressive collection of Tiffany & Co. hollowware and flatware services. The sale will also feature fine and heirloom pieces of silver from other makers such as Georg Jensen, Gorham, and Christofle.

Lot 7, Tiffany & Co., Sterling Silver Wine Cooler, Decorated with putti and grapevines, with attached liner, USA, ca.1886-91; Estimate $26,000-$32,000

Among the sterling silver highlights are several works by Tiffany & Co. including a wine cooler, an Aesthetic movement water pitcher, tea and coffee service, an ewer, and a pair of candelabra. Additional highlights from the silver session include: a finely engraved American coin silver two-handled tray; a large Gorham centerpiece bowl; a Braganti silver gilt epergne; and an Edward VII ox-eye cup by Ramsden & Carr

Rago, Remix: Classic + Contemporary, October 19, 2019

Then on Saturday, October 19, Remix: Classic + Contemporary presents pieces of contemporary and mid-century design alongside period furnishings, elegant antiques, and compelling art. This session will also feature a collection of furniture, lighting and decorative metalwork by Oscar Bach from a prestigious single-owner collection from the Mid-Atlantic.

Lot 410, Yorgos Papadopoulos, Five laminated glass and resin discs mounted in polished brass bezels, ca. 2015; Estimate $8,000-$12,000

Highlights include: an impressive pair of Christofle candelabra; a hanging art installation of glass and resin discs by Yorgos Papadopoulos; a gilt bronze figure of Maitreya Buddha from the mid-15th century; a fine George III mahogany bookcase; the top of a bronze drinking fountain for horses by William Couper; a large lithograph in colors entitled “Absinthe Robette” by Henri Privat-Livemont; a Costa Rican feline metate ca. 800-1200 AD; and a Roman mosaic floor section from the 5th century AD.
