Summer is finally here and Pook & Pook is celebrating with another one of their ever-popular Online Only Decorative Arts auction, to be held on Wednesday June 26th 2019. Online bidding for the sale will begin at 9 am and is offered exclusively on bidsquare.com. With over 800 lots set to cross the block, this sale presents all manner of antique decorative arts - from a wide variety of furniture and folk art, to continental offerings and textiles, and featuring a great selection of fine arts including paintings and sculptures.
Lot 455, Pennsylvania Sheraton tiger maple dressing table; Estimate $200-$400
Presented early in the sale is a collection of sterling silver items, featuring a lot of Tiffany sterling silver Audubon and Olympian pattern flatware ($400-$440). To follow are over twenty lots of porcelain, pewter, and stoneware steins, including those by Mettlach, Villeroy & Boch, Musterschutz, and Westerwald. An extensive offering of blue Staffordshire will surely attract the attention of collectors; nearly 100 lots will present an assortment of patterns and motifs to complete your collection. International decorative arts of special mention include a variety of 18th and 19th century Dutch engraved brass snuff boxes.
From fine 18th century furniture to early 20th century Arts & Crafts furniture, Pook & Pook’s sale will have something for everyone. Of special note is a George II mahogany three-part secretary, ca. 1760 ($800-$1,200), a Pennsylvania Queen Anne walnut slant front desk, ca. 1765 ($500-$1,000), and a Limbert Arts and Crafts oak dining room suite ($800-$1,200). Items to adorn your walls include folk portraits, Hudson River landscapes, tin and porcelain advertising signs, Pennsylvania fraktur and an extensive lithograph collection from an estate. A unique addition to the sale is a collection of Peter Ompir and W. C. Wrede handpainted pieces, including tin spice canisters and trays, wooden buckets and boxes, hanging cupboards and child’s furniture.
