Summer weather is finally here and we bet you are looking to get out of the house after these past few months. Shake off those quarantine blues with some retail therapy. Pook & Pook’s Americana Auction kicks off at 9am on June 20th, 2020 with nearly 500 lots of beautiful antique furniture and impressive selections of fine and folk art crossing the block in their one-day extravaganza. As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, in person bidding will be limited and by reservation only, but Pook & Pook has bolstered their phone bidding accommodations and is offering online bidding across multiple platforms. In addition, gallery exhibition, also by appointment, has been expanded to include two additional preview days.

Pook & Pook, located just east of Philadelphia, is known for offering impressive early American furniture and antiques and with the stunning collections featured in their upcoming auction, this sale will be no different. Featuring among a collection from the Winesburg, Ohio estate of Pauline Kasserman is an array of painted furniture, a tiger maple Dutch cupboard and a wonderful tall-case clock, expertly inlaid with tulip vines, eagles and more. Pauline’s passion for all things Early American shines through her beautiful collection. The June 20th auction will also feature a Pennsylvanian collection of Mocha, which includes a rare gemel jug that is sure to draw attention ($5000-8000). Among the other collections in the June auction are two large collections of Historical Blue Staffordshire, the Estate of Audrey Nichols, and more.

Not to be missed are a remarkable Cigar Store Indian Maiden attributed to Samuel Robb’s workshop ($20,000-30,000) and a beautiful Soap Hollow chest of drawers signed by John Sala ($12,000-18,000). This sale will not be without its fair share of breathtaking art. Taking two of the top slots at the sale are a wonderful oil on board painting by Sanford Gifford ($20,000-30,000), and an abstract oil on paper painting by Hans Hofman ($15,000-20,000). Along with those, expect to see expansive examples of Wyeth family art including both prints and collotypes.
As always, all manner of antique furniture, pottery, porcelain, textiles, fraktur, etc. will cross the auction block. The auction will close out with an offering of fine rugs, including a stunning Isfahan pictorial rug ($800-1200).
